Messy car? Time for a clean up in between details? You can speed up your at home detail with these time saving tips.
Clean cars just drive better. Well, at least that's how I feel when I'm driving a freshly detailed car or truck no matter the miles under the hood. Below you'll find a few tips that I find to be efficient, cost effective and time saving. Give a read and then try one out and let me know how it went. Some supplies you will need: vacuum and cords, carpet brush or brushes, microfiber towels, trash bag and glass cleaner. 1. Bring a bag and a brush. As you open the doors, shake out the floor mats and gather personal items, carry a trash bag for those larger items the vacuum won't pick up. A hand sized brush for the carpet and seats is helpful when you begin vacuuming, simply brush any debris into piles or towards the vacuum from the seats, crevices and carpet. Grabbing garbage, brushing and vacuuming at the same time in each section of the vehicle really keeps the process moving. 2.Microfiber Towels. One damp towel (not dripping wet) can be used to both pre-wipe those filthy windows and some light cleaning duty on the dash and steering wheel area. Follow up on the windows with glass cleaner and a fresh microfiber towel for great results. BONUS Tip ** Add shine and protection with a follow up wipe of your favorite leather/trim protection sprayed on a separate microfiber towel. I love Costco’s in house brand of yellow microfiber towels. Wash them without other fabrics and dry without heat to make the fibers last longer. 3. Work in sections... Wipe, brush, vacuum and clean the glass in each section before moving to the next. For example, I like to start at the driver’s seat and dash area, wiping down the dash, brushing the seat, vacuuming the seat, brushing and vacuuming the floor and floor mat. I follow up with glass cleaner on the windows before moving to the rear passenger section and working my way around to the front passenger seat and floor. Maintenance cleaning is essential to finding and preventing set in stains, mineral deposits, carpet clogging sand build up and funny smells. Regular clean ups don’t have to take up more of your time and if you run into something stuck on, stained or smelly don’t forget to give your favorite detailer a call.
